Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan RSS Scholarship in India

The Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan receives full financial assistance from the Indian Government and assists the Ministry of Human Resource Development in charting out plans and programs for the spread of the Sanskrit language in India.

Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University) established by the M/o. HRD, Government of India for propagation and promotion of Sanskrit invites applications in the prescribed form for award of Merit Scholarship to:

  • i) Regular students studying Sanskrit including Pali and Prakrit in any recognized traditional Pathshalas/ modern institutions/ Secondary/ Higher Secondary Schools from 9th to 12th standard.
  • ii) Regular students pursuing higher course of studies in Sanskrit in recognized educational Institutions at the levels of Shastri/ Graduation. Acharya/ Post Graduation, idyavaridhi/ Ph. D Scholarship details, eligibility criteria and conditions for the Scholarships are given below:

  • 1. 9th Std and 10th Std classes/ Purva-Madhyama or equivalent courses with Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit as a paper of at least 100 marks Eligibility: Must have passed the previous examination of the respective class with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the aggregate and also in the concerned subject i.e. in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit. Scholarship Amount: Rs.250/- P.M.
  • 2. 11th Std 12th Std Classes/ Prak-Shastri/ Uttar-Madhyama and equivalent courses with Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit as a paper of at least 100 marks Eligibility: Must have passed the previous examination of the respective class with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the aggregate and also in the concerned subject i.e. in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit. Scholarship Amount: Rs.300/- P.M.
  • 3. Shastri/ Graduation/ BA/ BA (Hons) and equivalent course of three years duration with Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit as a paper of at least 100 marks. Eligibility: Must have passed Plus 2 level examination with a minimum 60% marks or equivalent in the aggregate and also in the concerned subject i.e. in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit. Scholarship Amount: Rs.400/- P.M.
  • 4. Acharya degree in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit and its equivalent Post-Graduation Degree Eligibility: Must have passed Graduation with at least 60% marks in the aggregate in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit Scholarship Amount: Rs.500/- P.M.
  • 5. Vidyavaridhi/ Ph. D and equivalent in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit Eligibility: Must have passed Acharya or MA in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit with at least 60% marks in the aggregate. Scholarship Amount: Rs.1500/- P.M.** Contact for Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan RSS Scholarship in India

    The rate of Scholarship will be as under :- Course of StudyAmount
  • i).+2 and equivalent courses withRs.100/- p.m.Sanskrit as a subject
  • ii).B.A/B.A(Hons.) and equivalent whereRs.175/-p.m.three year degree course is prevalent withSanskrit
  • iii).M.A. in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit and equivalentRs.200/-p.m.
  • iv).Ph.D and equivalent in Sanskrit/Pali/PrakritRs.400/-p.m. +500/-per year for 2 year as contingent Grant Eligibility for Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan RSS Scholarship in India
  • 1.Applicant must have passed the qualifying examination with at least 50% marksin Sanskrit.
  • 2.The Scholarship for the + 2 system, Graduate, Post-Graduate and equivalentcourses will be tenable for one academic year i.e (10 months) starting from 1stJuly and ending with 30thApril. As Scholarship is awarded every academic year on the basis of marks obtained in the previous examination, the students have toapply every year as fresh.

    The Scholarship for the Ph.D will be tenable for twofull years i.e. 24 months. Subject to satisfactory progress report.

  • 3.The Scholarship amount will be payable from the 1stJuly of the academic yearand will be released in the name of the concerned students by account payeecheque through the head of the concerned institutions. In case any studentwishes to receive the Scholarship directly in his/her State bank account, the State Bank Account number must be mentioned in the application form legibly.
  • 4.In the case of Ph.D and equivalent students, the Institution concerned shall sendUtilization Certificate, and progress report of the work done by the scholarthrough the guide and Head of the Department, to enable the Sansthan torelease Scholarship for the second year.
  • 5.A Candidate who receives any Scholarship from any other Institution will not beconsidered for Scholarship of the Sansthan under this Scheme. A candidatewho accepts any remunerative job during the tenure of the Scholarship orundertakes any other course of study which does not have component ofSanskrit will be disqualified from receiving this Scholarship.
  • 6.The Sansthan reserves the right to make such changes in these terms andconditions as it may consider necessary. The Sansthan also reserves the right toreject any application after due scrutiny. The decision of the Sansthan in thisregard will be final and binding.
  • 7.Every students will be required to submit application formthroughtheCompetent Authority in the prescribed pro-formawith the followingundertakings :

  • 7. i. That he is pursuing a course with Sanskrit as a regular student.
  • 7. ii. That he is not in receipt of any other Scholarship.
  • 7. iii. That he is not employed anywhere.
  • 7. iv. That during the currency of the Scholarship if he is awarded Scholarshipfrom any other source and/or is employed he will immediately inform theSansthan through proper channel.The application on the prescribed proforma ( alongwith attested copies of themark-sheet of the latest qualifying examination must be sent to the Registrar, RashtriyaSanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University) 56-57, Institutional area, Janakpuri, New Delhi-110 058 through the respective Head of the Institution/Registrar of the University.
